Leaving for Memphis tomorrow for a week!
Via Nashville.
Haven’t packed or done any of the things I need to do before I go though …
But my body hates me, so all I can manage at the moment is to sit immobile under my heating pad.
Maybe I will be all crazy and just throw some things in a bag 15 minutes before I leave! Instead of laying everything out on the bed in categories, and matching outfits etc. That would be WILD....

Watching Mystery Train in preparation for our trip...
So far I want both the Japanese and the Italian women’s wardrobes.
(This is the best photo I could find, but her dress, shoes, and purse are great. And she’s NIcoletta Braschi, i.e. Roberto Benigni’s wife.)

If Mommy doesn’t get her beauty sleep, Kitty is gonna get a boot to the butt one of these days. LET HER SLEEP.
But where is the food? How can she be expected to remember? What if it’s not in the same place as every other day? WHERE IS THE FOOD????

My cat has an automatic feeder that dispenses food three times a day. Even though she spends most of her day upstairs in my bedroom, she can hear it when it releases the food down in the kitchen, Most of the time.
If she doesn’t hear it, though, she doesn’t go looking for food when she’s hungry. She knows when it’s time to eat, because she starts to whine and get in my...

That’s about as comprehensible as a Courtney Stodden tweet.
And just as sexy!

It’s like reading a terrible blog, or maybe a spam email that is just a jumble of words and sentences stuck together.
Fuck this book. I’m not even going to bother.
This book is also filled with alliteration and cutesy chapter titles based on Beatles’ songs and movies.
Sounds fun, maybe, but it’s not.

I was pretty excited to read this book about a certain Roman author’s writings about country villas, but now that I’ve cracked it open, the writer (i.e. the modern scholar guy) is trying to be all postmodern and artistic or something and ugh.
I don’t want to have to interpret/translate your interpretation of another work. Just tell me about it. Use your words. Try to combine...

I have five or six of this line and I love them.
Me too! These are maybe my favorites (but I like all the ones I have):
(Purple Pizzazz)
(The Real Teal)
(Red Carpet)

I’m pretty sure SH polishes are all 3 Free actually!
So they are! They do have formaldehyde resin, though.

The Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polishes come in such great colors, and they work so well, and they cost like $2.
I got these today:
(Going Green. It’s what I was hoping Julep Leah was going to look like.)
(Lacey Lilac)
They’re probably filled with all those terrible poisons though, right?

Okay now Adobe called me back and put me on hold. I am less impressed. They seem to be playing the soundtrack to a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie.

Okay, so I guess a bajillion people are trying to use the Adobe website right now, and I keep getting an error when I try to submit my order. So I called their direct sales number, and there is a 16-20 minute wait, BUT you can just enter your phone number and they will call you back when they’re free. You don’t lose your place in the queue. Why can’t all companies do this?...

You still can’t use those editions for making money though, huh? My husband would love to have that stuff legit but there’s no point if you still can’t use it to make money with it.

definitely do the download. you might lose the disks but if you still have the download link you can replace it a lot easier
Okay, good to know. Replacement was what I was worried about, since I’m not sure how much longer this computer is going to last.
OMG you (academic/college) guys
Adobe has 80% off student/teacher editions of products right now with the code SAVE80EDU. That means I can finally have Photoshop, and it will only cost $40! Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended Student and Teacher Edition … that’s the real deal, right? Should I download it, or have them send me the disk?

High-Low Hem
girlwithcurves:
I love the romantic silhouette of a high-low hem- it’s ethereal and flowy, sexy without being overt, yet classy with a hint
of glam.
It’s also a great alternative to a maxi, which can be overwhelming on those petite in height, and not always long enough
on taller girls like myself.

Brigitte Bardot offers support to Le Pen
inessita:
Former actress and model Brigitte Bardot has sent a letter to French mayors asking them to help far-right Front National leader Marine Le Pen get the crucial 500 signatures she needs to stand in the country’s presidential elections.

I'm grumpy today.
So the most serious thing I want to think about is whether or not I made the right decision in choosing the Teen Vogue Birchbox for next month, despite being a grown-ass 30-year-old woman.
But I like Essie.
But Teen Vogue?
How am I supposed to know which choice was the right one?

How Gel Nail Polish Changed Manicures →
And then, after three weeks with the same nail polish on, the other thing I hate about gel nail polish was that THREE WEEKS LATER I STILL HAD THE SAME DANG NAIL POLISH ON. To me, a chip in my polish is just an opportunity to grab some wine, turn on a DVR’d episode of Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee and hang out with myself and some paint.
This. I do wish I could go more than 2...

I have a dream that one day there will be some kind of shock collar I can surreptitiously attach to people so I can shock them when they make tired jokes.
Or put them instantly to sleep so they get conditioned to find them as boring as the rest of us do.

Do you think it’s bad for my nails to peel/pick off my polish all the time? I cured myself of biting my nails by doing this instead, and I still find it really satisfying. But am I weakening my nails by taking off a microscopic layer of nail cells every time I do it?

I am wearing greige nail polish. Never thought I'd...
Partly because it’s a stupid word. It’s not even a real word, right? I think it was just made up to describe nail polish.
Partly because it’s boring. I remember it was all over everywhere last year, and I was like:
I mean it looks okay, but I will probably only wear it with some kind of added sparkle in the future.

UGGGHH fuck these people
My program is taking our prospective students to one of their concerts when they visit next month. I thought about saying something, but it seems like it’s already been set up. Let’s just hope none of our prospectives have links to/feelings about the Roma community?

Coke is marginally better than Pepsi, but Diet Pepsi is better than Diet Coke. Diet Coke is undrinkable.
Also, European* Coke is better than American Coke, but European* Pepsi is worse than American Pepsi.

A large number of artifacts were recently stolen...
You can download the full list of them at this link, if you are curious. Click on the second Word doc icon. It is in Greek, but there are photos of all the objects included. Some of them are a bit strange to steal, like a number of oil lamps, which can’t be especially valuable. A huge number of bronze and terracotta figurines were taken, though, mostly of horses.
