So not fair.
That is 0 degrees Fahrenheit versus 48 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cruel world.
ETA: I should probably point out that I am currently at my parents’, not at the place where I live.
Oh the other thing I have to do
Wrap all the presents I didn’t wrap yet, because we weren’t going to exchange them until my sister got back, so I had plenty of time.

My NYE plans
1. Maybe talk to boyfriend on Skype if he gets back in the next 5 minutes, but maybe not, because I’m getting impatient and my computer battery is dying.
2. Drive my mother who has no driver’s license around to do errands like get the mail and go the bank.
3. Go with my mother to have tea with that one German lady who lives in their town, because she wants to meet me since my...

All the jezzie love on my dash is really sweet
I don’t think I really have a close personal relationship with any of you, because I tend to be more of a listener than a talker, but almost everyone I follow came from ladyblog. And that’s why everyone I follow is someone I think I have something in common with, and you’re all awesome feminists of all sorts of ages I can look up to and be proud of.

Texan is an accent unto itself I think. And the actor that plays him is a native Texan, so he knows how to do it correctly.
I must confess, I haven’t watched new episodes since they killed Warrick.

Nick? He’s always been from Texas, though.
Yeah. I know, but I’m sure he hasn’t always sounded quite like this.
Is it wrong to call a Texan accent a Southern accent?

Note: I am not advocating the use or banning of either word. I am curious how people distinguish between these words as being okay or not.
Idiot is, maybe, okay, because its use to describe the mentally disabled is archaic enough to no longer have relevance. Yes? But do people still use the word lame to describe the disabled? Serious question. It may be a regional thing; in the parts of the world...

I hate, hate, hate the whole “pinch an inch” thing. From when I was a little girl I lived with this as one of the measures of being fat and now I realize that it’s so unrealistic.

I don't like ones like this

My 2010 in review
For me, 2010 was immeasurably better than 2009, which was quite possibly one of the worst years of my life. It’s good to know that things can swing back up. I’m going to put the bad things first and get them out of the way.
Bad things:
Was very depressed and anxious for most of the year, despite all the good things listed below. It was really frustrating, and got to the point where I...

I dunno about the neon. 80s clothes have come back with a vengeance lately.
This is true. And as I watch more, it seems like we might actually wear more neon now in the real future than they do in this fake one. My mistake.
But no double ties. Someone should start that trend asap.

Video phone, yes.
Hydrating machine that makes tiny food into normal-sized food, no. Seems like it would make carrying home groceries on the bus easier.

Our cars aren’t as cool (they don’t fly, but they do look similar), but our TVs are much better. You can turn on lights and the TV with your voice and unlock doors with your fingerprint now, if you want, I think.
We also wear less neon and not many metal helmet-hats.
But then again, as my dad pointed out, it’s not 2015 yet. Maybe more things will fly/hover 4 years from now.

I would describe Catherine as a monster figure before MPDG. She uproots the lives of everyone around her, demands affection and is so unused to not being adored that she’ll commit murder-suicide to “win” Jim. She’s more frightening than adorable.

No! I’ll check it out though. Thanks!
jessysaurusrex replied to your post: Jules et Jim
Actually, it’s based on a real-life relationship. Beatrice Wood, Marcel Duchamp and Henri (whose last name escapes me). Beatrice Wood is my favorite woman ever, so I have a hard time seeing a character modeled on her as a MPDG.
It seems like this is debatable, but it sounds like you know more about her than I do. Anyway, even if she was a...

Have you seen it? I really like it. A Truffaut film from 1962.
It seems like an early example of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl type in film, though I haven’t been able to find any references to that. (Of course it’s later than Bringing Up Baby, etc.) Catherine is definitely a woman who’s shown almost entirely though male eyes and is irresistible to the bohemian (hipster?) male...
